The Book List!

As a part of my New Year’s Resolution I challenged myself to read 100 books before the end of the year. This very well may be impossible and I am pretty sure I am setting myself up for failure. The point is to challenge myself to read as many books as possible and to watch less TV.
So Today is January the 1st and I have just started reading Julie and Julia by Julia Powell. For those who have not seen the movie or read the book, I will give a brief introduction. The book is based off the experiences and blogging of New Yorker Julia Powel in 2002 while she baked/cooked her way through Julie Child’s The Art of French Cooking. The movie and the novel creates a parallel between Julia and Julie’s life. Julie, in the 1950’s, was living in France with her husband. During this time she was finding herself first as a cook and second as she writes The Art of French Cooking.
I really enjoy the movie depiction of the book. That is one of the main reasons why I decided to read it. Julia reminded me a lot of my sister. But as I read through the book I become more and more disappointed with Julia. I find she is too vulgar to be charming. But I will carry on reading and hope it gets better!

To Fall in Love with Harry Potter...

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone first was realsed as a book when I was in the fourth grade, and I am just now reading them. I say it's because I know I will like the ending I will spend the time reading seven books, but the truth is I should have been reading these books sense the fourth grade. No I am reading them it's only several years late. But enough about the books lets talk, and when I 'lets talk' I mean I write...and someone(anyone), the movies.
I was at the young age of 12 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone became a film! I was young and so were they. I grew up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I have fought with them, laughed with them, cried with them, and suceeded with them. And by the end of it all I have ended up in love.

I am not the biggest fan of the first film but as they progressed so did the depth, the truth, and the beauty of the films. Here we are and we are all grown up!

I am a romantic! Therefore I love the story of Harry and Ginny and the story of Ron and Hermione. Begining in friendship then ending in love. The deep abinding kind that doesn't quit when life gets hard. The kind of love I hope and dream about. I was excited to find out that they all end up married in the end.

Ginny was infacuated with Harry from the begining, but sadly Harry did not feel the same. But of course Ginny won him over with her awesome ability to do magic and other things...and now they are married! Oh what joy!

What a special moment it was between Harry and Ginny when death was being faced they looked at each other. Ginny said, "I know" and she kissed him.

Ron and Hermione:

Love and Hate: Altough they would never admit it to each other in the early films, but they are amazed by each other. There is nothing more loving then being in aww of someone else.

Finally, after seven years they finally kiss!!! I almost clap in the theater...but I do NOT clap in theaters.

In honor of Harry Potter...I would sugest that everyone watch "A Very Potter Musical". It is the funniest thing in the world. As much as I love Harry Potter, I love things that make fun of Harry Potter, in a nice way of course!

"These are a few of my Favorite things!"

I have decided to create a montage of all my favorite things. After seting my mind to it, I have discovered it is slightly impossible. Simply because I have been blessed with loving everything. Well everything good and beautiful.

The plan: I plan..to share a few of my favorite things ever so often...probably when I have nothing better to say. This occurance may happen often. These things define who I am...I hope I like it when the plan is complete!

Now let us begin:

My all time...no expections favorite poem:
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart) by EE Cummings

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it (anywherei go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the budand the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Next:

I am in love with Pride and Prejudice. Both the movie and the film...who wouldn't want to be Mrs. Darcy!?

And the last for today:

I was blessed enough to watch this temple rise from the ground from my apartment window while I lived in Rexburg, Id attending Brigham Young University. I was also able to work as an usher during one of the largest open houses ever. After the thousands of people were able to veiw the beautiful temple from with in. They allowed me to view it as well with the last group. This is my temple.

If I were a book worm I would be an Inch worm...

So I have given you my list of music that I need to purchase, now I need to give you my need to read book list. But there is a problem I do not have one. I am a new reader. For most of my life I thought I was a slow reader therefore I didn't read. Although I am still a slow read especially compared to all my sisters, who have been readers all there life. It wasn't until I moved to a extremely small town with limited acess to any type of fun besides self made fun, did I begin to read. I have now read more in these past eight months than I have read my entire life. But I point is I have fallen in love with words again. The beauty of a beautifully contsructed sentence is my joy.
The problem I am facing now is the books I am reading. I am reading "easy" novels. I plan to read these easy novels until I build a good foundation for more difficult reading. I find these books through my older sisters library. I basicly do not have a clue of what kind of reader I am, therefore I choose books that look familiar and friendly to me. So I have recently began to read "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks. Of course I have seen the film before I read the book. I actually believe it is my frist real 'chick flick' I watched growing up.
In order to mitigate this issue I have signed up at the Website: www.goodreads.com. This will enable me to keep track of the books I have read and CREATE and 'to read' list. This has become necessary for my well being. My only goal through all of this is to read as fast as my three older sisters....not such a lofty quest????
